They don’t need another mug.

They have forty-seven mugs. They have mugs with apples on them and mugs that say World's Best Teacher and mugs from students whose names she can still remember even though they graduated fifteen years ago. They are a teacher and a counselor and a mediator and a safe adult for kids who do not always have one at home. They do all of this on a salary that doesn’t reflect a fraction of what they are actually worth.
