Hazelnut Mom Guilt

You said no. And then immediately felt bad about it.

You also said yes to the thing you should have said no to and felt bad about that too. You raised your voice on Tuesday and apologized for it on Wednesday and then felt guilty about the apology on Thursday because was it enough? Was it sincere enough? Did they feel it? Are they okay? Are YOU okay?

That is the cycle. And if you recognize it, you are already in good company — because every mom reading this has been there. In the middle of trying to read every label, make better choices, be more present, be more patient, raise good humans, and somehow still lying awake at 2am wondering if she is doing enough.

Here is what nobody is saying to you loudly enough: the fact that you care this much is the proof. The guilt is not evidence that you are failing. It is evidence that you love them so deeply that the gap between perfect and real feels unbearable sometimes. But perfect was never the goal. Present is the goal. And you are so present it is literally keeping you up at night.
